Self assessing for continuous improvement
Lauritzen Fleet Management is part of the Tanker Management Self Assessment
(TMSA) programme, recently put in place by oil majors. The programme
encourages ship managers, such as LFM, to assess their management systems
against specified key performance indicators, thus providing a measure of
best practices. Participation in the programme allows us to undertake our
own internal self-assessment against 12 basic measurement elements and
“self-rate” our progress against the various stages in each element. The
goal is to use the results to develop phased improvement plans that address
safety and environmental performance, with the aim of continuously
achieving higher standards of ship management and continuous improvement
against best practices.
