Danish J. Lauritzen expands and re-enters the product tanker business
Dansk versionIn line with its development strategy, J. Lauritzen has decided to re-enter into the product tanker business and has chartered two newbuildings to be delivered from Japanese shipyard in 2006 and 2007, respectively.
Simultaneously, J. Lauritzen has acquired Quantum Tankers whose product tanker division has been active in the management of product tankers in the spot and timecharter markets for a number of years. Quantum Tankers, headed by Mr Anders Mortensen, has well established contacts throughout the tanker industry.
As per February 2004, Mr Mortensen will take up the position of president of J. Lauritzen's new business area, Lauritzen Tankers - a position he also held when J. Lauritzen was previously engaged in this field of business.
Lauritzen Tankers will continue and further develop the activities of Quantum Tankers’ business portfolio.
