Celebrating our Japanese business relations
In keeping with tradition, J. Lauritzen recently hosted the annual cocktail reception for business friends and associates in Japan. The event took place on Wednesday 13 September at Happo-En in Tokyo, where more than 200 representatives from trading houses, shipyards, ship owners and other companies associated with J. Lauritzen attended and had the opportunity to meet J. Lauritzen’s management led by CEO Mads P. Zacho.
In his welcome speech, Mads P. Zacho, who rounds his first year with J. Lauritzen this month, reflected on the challenging shipping markets and acknowledged the overwhelming support received by J. Lauritzen’s Japanese business associates, but also shed some light on J. Lauritzen’s new strategic direction. “We aim to be the leading operator of small vessels in dry bulk and in the gas tanker business. In Lauritzen Bulkers, we will focus and grow within the Handysize segment and in Lauritzen Kosan we will grow our presence in the ethylene segment. To succeed we will use data, analytics and digitalisation to be the most technologically advanced operator in our field.”
After the welcome speech, the guests enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the Happo-en and the opportunity to network with J. Lauritzen representatives from Copenhagen and Singapore.
The annual cocktail reception offers a great opportunity for J. Lauritzen to connect with Japanese business associates and local stakeholders. “J. Lauritzen has a long-lasting and strong relationship with the trading houses, local owners, and shipyards in Japan,” said COO Thomas Wøidemann after the event and added “the reception tonight underscores this, and it was, once again, a pleasure spending time with our Japanese business partners."
